I'm Katarina - your friendly, professional biographer
Hello and welcome. I'm Katarina, a professional biographer based in the south of England.
I'm guessing you have it in mind to write your life story ... Perhaps you've already written something but have got stuck? Or maybe you're still mulling over your stories and need help to get started?
If writing doesn’t come naturally, if you haven’t got the time to write your story, or if your first language isn’t English, I can help.
Why write your story?
A family heirloom?
“Wonderful to have a story about Mum that we can pass on to the grandchildren. The best gift ever.”
A personal legacy?
“My children had only ever known their grandfather as a frail old man; they were amazed that he’d led such a remarkable life - and were seeing him in a new light.”
To make sense of the past?
“My story has made me feel proud of my life and what I have achieved, and my family understand so much more about my struggles.”
How it works
After an initial telephone call, we will arrange to meet, usually in your home or somewhere relaxed and comfortable. I will show you examples of my work and talk you through the range of writing options.
For example, we may set up a series of informal visits where we will chat about important people, relationships, and events in your life, and I will be an active listener, recording what you say and asking questions here and there to jog your memory.
Or, perhaps you've already written part or all of your story and need someone to look at with fresh eyes and a professional perspective. If this is the case I would improve the accuracy and readability of your manuscript to ensure it is free of error, omission, inconsistency, and repetition.
Rest assured that all the information you share with me is in strict confidence and I will never judge or add my opinions to your story. I will simply work with you to ensure that you finish up with a compelling narrative that reflects how you wish to remember your life.
If we live miles apart that's no problem as I often use skype, zoom or online video conferencing. Wherever you live in England, the UK, or indeed the world, we can connect!
Please take a look at one of my sample books below. Wait a while until the book loads, then click on the arrow on the right of it to turn the pages.
I offer a range of options to suit all requirements and budgets.
How long is your story? You may need help to write about an episode or two of particular interest or significance in your life, for example, your childhood, a special romance, or an absorbing job or hobby. Alternatively you may wish to write your entire life story from birth to the present day.
How would you like your story to be presented? You may be happy with a printer-bound copy or computer-ready manuscript. Or, perhaps you would prefer your story to be made into a beautiful book with full colour photographs and a stunning front cover.
What type of assistance do you need? Are you looking for help to write your story from scratch? Or, have you already written your story and simply need some help to finish it off?
Wherever you are with your life story, please contact me, and we can talk it through.
My fees vary according to each project, but so that you get an idea of my costs ... A concise account of your life will be somewhere between £599 and £1,099, and a detailed, in-depth life story between £2,450 and £4,450.
If you have a particular budget in mind, let me know, and we can negotiate.

"My books arrived this morning and I am quite overwhelmed. I could not have summed up enough energy to do a book about my life without Katarina's kind and gentle direction."
